Conjugated linoleic acid

schéma Acide Linoléique Conjugué (CLA)

Description

Discovered in the 1980s, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is an unsaturated fatty acid of the omega-6 family. CLA is derived from the transformation of Linoleic acid and is mainly found in dairy products and meat.

CLA is used in particular by veterinarians for its action on reducing fat mass and increasing muscle mass.

Conjugated linoleic acid reduces appetite and stimulates the metabolism. It promotes the use of fat by the body.

Its action also contributes to reducing the size of adipocytes, cells in charge of storing fatty acids, a source of energy. Thus, CLA participates in the activation of enzymes involved in the reduction of fat present at abdominal level.
