Description
Omega-6 are essential polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are found in vegetable oils such as walnut oil, but also in eggs and certain meats.
Linoleic acid (LA), gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA) and arachidonic acid (AA) are fatty acids that belong to the omega-6 family.
Linoleic acid is the smallest molecule of the omega-6 family. It is also the precursor of the other molecules of this family of fatty acids, which means that from linoleic acid, the enzymatic action makes it possible to obtain the various omega-6s previously mentioned.
It is also possible that a molecule of the omega-6 family can be metabolized by certain enzymes and become a fatty acid of the omega-3 family.
