Magnesium L-threonate

Magnesium L-threonate (Magtein^®) is a patented form resulting from the combination of magnesium with threonic acid, a metabolite of vitamin C. This structure gives this form particular properties, notably in relation to its passage into the central nervous system.

L-threonate is studied for its ability to use certain membrane transporters, including GLUT-type transporters, involved in the passage of molecules across the blood-brain barrier. This specificity explains the interest in this form of magnesium in the context of functions related to the nervous system.
