Chloride
Description
Chloride is a chemical element that can be found in the form of the ion Cl-. It is frequently found in association with other minerals. This is particularly true of table salt: sodium chloride. It is also found in the form of calcium chloride, magnesium chloride or potassium chloride, for example.
Chloride is particularly useful in the production of hydrochloric acid, HCl. Present in the gastric juice, it is necessary for the breakdown and digestion of food.
