Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience. There are different types of pain: acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain is a one-off, alarm signal and aims to heal. It is caused by inflammatory molecules synthesised by injured cells, nerve endings and immune cells. These molecules bind to receptors called nociceptors. When pain lasts longer than 3 months, it is considered chronic. Within the body, the endocannabinoid system is responsible for pain relief. It is made up of different classes of receptors to which, among others, endocannabinoids, derivatives of fatty acids synthesised by the body, can bind. This is particularly the case for anandamide (the main representative of endocannabinoids) or endocannabinoid mimetics such as palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), which results from the combination of a fatty acid, palmitic acid, with an ethanolamine group, and whose structure is close to that of endocannabinoids. However, PEA does not bind to the same receptors as anandamide or other phyto-cannabinoids such as CBD. PEA thus has a so-called "endocannabinoid-like" action, allowing support for chronic but also acute pain, without inducing a psychotropic effect. Furthermore, PEA is indirectly responsible for increasing the concentration of anandamide by preventing its degradation, thus prolonging the action of this molecule.
Using advice
1 to 2 capsules in the morning and 1 to 2 capsules in the evening during meals, for a minimum of 15 days. Repeat if necessary.
