Scientific studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of plantain in the treatment of chronic bronchitis and in the relief of acute coughs. Its composition, and in particular the mucilage it contains, gives this medicinal plant an anti-inflammatory and emollient action which makes it a natural ally for your respiratory tract. The white broth owes its name to its ancient medicinal use as an infusion (broth), as well as to the apparent colour of its leaves, which are covered with a white down. White broth is one of the oldest medicinal plants in the world. In the 1st century AD, the Greek botanist Dioscorides mentions its use to treat people "suffering from lung disease". In the Middle Ages, white broth was used in traditional medicine for various respiratory disorders such as coughs, bronchitis and asthma.
