Lipase is an enzyme produced by the pancreas.
It is involved in the digestion of lipids, substances which are essential to the body and which are found in particular in oils (rapeseed, virgin olive), oleaginous fruits (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts), certain fish (salmon, herring, mackerel) or even eggs.
Lipase hydrolyses triglycerides and transforms them into fatty acids and glycerol.
The accumulation of triglycerides in the blood can lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases, particularly atherosclerosis.
The action of lipase is essential because fatty acids, which are an important source of energy, are also involved in cell membranes and in protecting the cardiovascular system.
Lipase promotes the breakdown of fats during digestion.
