Manganese

Description

Manganese is involved in the use of carbohydrates and lipids by the body. It is also involved in the fight against free radicals, molecules responsible for oxidative stress which accelerates the cellular ageing process. Manganese may replace magnesium in certain enzymes that need it.


There is no recommended nutritional intake for manganese, as requirements are largely covered by the diet. For adults, they are 1 to 2.5 mg per day.
