Peptan® : a highly bioavailable hydrolysed collagen peptide with clinically proven efficacy

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, and is one of the main constituents of connective tissues such as skin, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. In the skin, collagen is synthesised by fibroblasts in the dermis. It is a key component of our skin, contributing to its resistance, elasticity and suppleness. With age, the synthesis of this protein diminishes inexorably, and the collagen network breaks down, leading to a loss of density and the appearance of wrinkles.

In the joints, collagen is synthesised by chondrocytes and plays a structural role in ensuring cohesion between the different tissues and their regeneration. With age and certain physical activities, the integrity of collagen can be altered, leading to the appearance of joint problems such as osteoarthritis or arthritis.

Peptan® hydrolysed collagen peptides have excellent bioavailability: 90% are digested and bioavailable in connective tissue just 4 hours after ingestion. Oral supplementation with Peptan® helps to maintain the integrity and structure of the collagen network in the skin and joints.

The effects of Peptan® on the skin and the signs of ageing have been proven1 : A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study of 106 women aged 45 to 65 showed a 31% reduction in collagen network fragmentation and a 9% increase in collagen density after oral supplementation with 10g of Peptan® for 12 weeks.

The effects of Peptan® on cartilage and joint maintenance have also been proven2.
A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial carried out on 94 women aged between 40 and 70 over 6 months showed a significant reduction in joint discomfort, with 32% less pain and 44% less stiffness. A second result also showed an improvement in joint function.
