Bourrache (Borago officinalis) is a herbaceous plant native to the Mediterranean region, traditionally used for its seeds, which are rich in essential fatty acids. Its oil is particularly concentrated in omega-6 fatty acids, including linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an important metabolic derivative for the proper functioning of the body.

Gamma-linolenic acid is a key precursor of an essential component of cell membrane phospholipids. Borage oil is therefore also of interest to people wishing to maintain naturally supple and hydrated skin.
