KerPep^® : A highly concentrated innovative bio-active ingredient

KerPep^® stands out with a concentration of more than 90% bio-active keratin peptides. Unlike conventional keratins, which are often made up of high molecular weight proteins and are poorly soluble, KerPep^® is obtained through controlled fractionation of keratin into shorter peptide chains.

This transformation makes it possible to preserve a characteristic amino acid signature of keratin, notably glycine, proline, arginine, serine and glutamic acid. The resulting profile presents a strong similarity to that of native hair keratin, illustrating the biomimetic nature of KerPep^®. This combination of high peptide concentration, a specific compositional profile and a low proportion of free amino acids differentiates KerPep^® from standard keratins and makes it a particularly suitable ingredient for hair food supplement formulations.

Derived from the sheared wool of French sheep, KerPep^® valorises a local resource according to a circular economy approach. It is obtained in France through a process developed according to the principles of green chemistry, without solvents, combining technological innovation, naturalness and responsible sourcing.

L-cystine and L-methionine: two sulphur-containing amino acids essential to the formula

In DERMASSENTIEL^® Hair Women, L-cystine and L-methionine complement the supply of hydrolysed keratin peptides provided by KerPep^®. These two sulphur-containing amino acids have a particular role in the composition of keratin, the main structural protein of the hair fibre.

L-cystine contributes in particular to the organisation of keratin through sulphur bonds that contribute to the cohesion of its structure. L-methionine, meanwhile, is an essential sulphur-containing amino acid also present in the characteristic amino acid profile of keratin. Their association with the peptides of KerPep^® thus makes it possible to bring together, within the same formula, a precisely characterised peptide source of keratin and two amino acids closely linked to its composition.

This complementarity reinforces the nutritional coherence of DERMASSENTIEL^® Hair Women and the formulation approach dedicated to women's hair.

Five concentrated and precisely characterised plant extracts

THERASCIENCE Laboratory has incorporated into DERMASSENTIEL^® Hair Women five concentrated plant extracts obtained from millet seeds, Saw Palmetto fruits, aerial parts of horsetail, Rhodiola roots and aerial parts of red clover. Their extraction ratios make it possible to provide controlled quantities of plant material within a precisely defined formula. The millet seed extract has an extraction ratio of 10 to 1 (10:1).

The 200 mg of extract provided by three capsules of DERMASSENTIEL^® Hair Women thus correspond to 2 g of dried plant. The Saw Palmetto fruit extract is also concentrated according to a ratio of 10 to 1 (10:1). The 180 mg of extract present in the daily dose is equivalent to 1.8 g of dried plant. The aerial parts of horsetail extract has an extraction ratio of 6 to 1 (6:1). The 120 mg of extract corresponds to 720 mg of dried plant and provides 8.4 mg of silica. The Rhodiola root extract is concentrated according to a ratio of 4 to 1 (4:1). The 100 mg of extract provided per daily dose represents 400 mg of dried plant and provides 3 mg of rosavin and 1 mg of salidroside. Finally, the aerial parts of red clover extract has an extraction ratio of 20 to 1 (20:1). The 100 mg of extract corresponds to 2 g of dried plant and provides 8 mg of isoflavones.

Thanks to this combination of five concentrated plant extracts, DERMASSENTIEL^® Hair Women combines formulation precision, analytical characterisation and traceability of raw materials. Selected as part of the High Quality Process^®, each extract has a defined concentration and controlled specifications, in order to ensure consistent quality from one batch to another.

Hydrolysed keratin for optimised bioavailability

The hydrolysed form of KerPep^® makes it possible to obtain keratin peptides with a very low molecular weight, between 300 and 800 Da. Their reduced size distinguishes them from conventional keratin proteins, generally made up of longer chains, with a higher molecular weight and lower solubility. The hydrolysis process fractions the protein into short peptide chains, thereby improving its dispersion and solubility characteristics. KerPep^® is therefore presented in a form specifically suited to nutritional use. This requirement in the choice of forms also applies to the Suvimine 13^® complex.

DERMASSENTIEL^® Hair Women provides vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9, B12, C, D3 and E, as well as zinc and selenium, selected in their most bioavailable forms. The combination of low molecular weight peptides and micronutrients in precisely selected forms thus contributes to the technical quality and consistency of the formulation.
